is a fighting video game series developed by Namco and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment. It was originally released in arcades in 1991, and it has since become a cult classic, selling more than 30 million units worldwide.
Gameplay
There are three styles of gameplay: Tag Team, Block-Attacks and a unique Jump-At-Me System (JAM).
In tag team play, the player can either strike at their opponent's exposed body parts or counter-strike by hitting their opponent's exposed body parts.
Each opponent in the game uses one of four different body parts: head, legs, arms, or chest. These four body parts determine the type of attack.
In the Block-Attacks gameplay, each character has two attacks. Depending on which body part the player hit, their opponent will block with a different body part. If the opponent blocks, then the player can attack them by hitting their exposed body parts.
In the JAM gameplay, the player can only perform certain moves or attacks. If the player is hit, they cannot perform any further moves and must wait for the screen to refresh. If the player is hit while they are in mid-air, they will be instantly sent flying off the platform and will fall towards the ground. If the player lands on the ground, they lose a life and are sent back to the start of the level (Moves can be repeated once a player lands).
The player is scored based on the type of move used, the damage dealt and the distance at which the attack was performed. Each of the four characters has a top score of 10 and a bottom score of zero (10 is a perfect score).
If a player reaches a total of two perfect scores (10 in all categories), the game will not end and they will be awarded a "Character Specific Award", depending on the character they used in the last move.
Characters
There are currently 21 playable characters in the Tekken series. Many of the characters in the series are based on, or feature, real life people and organizations. For example, Heihachi Mishima (Mishima Kaz be359ba680
